Anthony (Tony) Bender, 81. of
1024 Twentieth St., died at 3 a.m
Tuesday in St. Joseph's hospital.
Born March 3, 1879. in Germany
he was the son of Egidius
and Caroline Beyer Bender. He
was a retired blacksmith for the
Pennsylvania and Chesapeake and
Ohio railroads, and was a mem-
of the Holy Name Society of
the St. Joseph's church and a
member of the Independent Order
of Forresters.
His wife, Mary, preceded him
in death on Nov. 15,1947, and one
son, Andrew, died June 26, 1950.
Survivors include a daughter,
Mrs. Frances McLochlin, 931
Twentieth St.; two sons,. Edward
J., 1015 Twentieth , St., and
George (Bus), 1014 Twentieth St.;
12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Funeral, mass will be sung at
9 a.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph's church,
with the Rt. Rev.
Msgr. Maurice Foley. officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary
cemetery. Rosary will be recited
at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Friends may
call at the Kroeger funeral home
after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
