Thatcher – Roy Abel, 84, passed away Dec. 30, 2013 at his home. He was born as the 11th child, Nov. 19, 1929 in American Fork, UT to Thomas and Frances Abel. He served in the Army in the Korean War for 3 years.

Roy married Darlene Daley on June 25, 1948 in Brigham City and was later sealed in the Logan Temple on June 10, 1988.

Roy enjoyed horses and farming. He was a member of the Bear River Squares dance group where they traveled around the country together to dance. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Elders Quorum, High Priests, as well as a Home teacher and Family History Coordinator.

He is survived by children, Patricia (Von) Brown and Steven Abel; 12 grandkids; 37 great-grandkids; and 4 great-great grandchildren; Siblings, Ralph (Janet) Abel, Kenneth (Rebecca) Abel, Jean (Ed) Hansen, and Edith (Ray) Conger. Roy was preceded in death by his wife; parents; 2 children, Randy Abel and Janene Miralles; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 1 great-great grandson; 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

Services for Roy will be held Tuesday January 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thatcher-Penrose LDS Chapel (11475 W. 10400 N. – Thatcher). Viewings will be held Monday Jan. 6, from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E. – Tremonton) as well as Tuesday prior to the funeral from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Online condolences may be shared at www.ruddfuneralhome.com
