ELIZABETHVILLE- John Albert Romberger, 88, of Tennessee Ave, passed away January 2nd, 2014 at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.

He was born, December 25, 1925 in Klingerstown RD, son of the late Ralph T. and Carrie E. (Bahner) Romberger . He was a WWII veteran with the US Army Air Corps.

His schooling included: Dalmatia High School, Dalmatia; Hershey Junior College, Hershey; Swarthmore, Philadelphia; Penn State University, State College. John attained his PhD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. He continued his studies at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA.

He was a retired biological research scientist and had worked for the Department of Agriculture, Beltsville, MD.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Berrysburg, and was a church archivist. He was a member of the Elizabethville and Gratz Historical Societies, Joseph Priestley Chapel Associates, Mahanoy Mahantongo Historical and Preservation Society, Inc.; and the Romberger All-Family Reunion Association.

Survivors include his wife of almost 63 years, Margery (Davis) Romberger at home; Son, Daniel D. Romberger, Silver Spring, MD; Daughter, Ann Fontaine, Richland, MI; Sister, Marie Enders, Millersburg; 3 Grandchildren, R. Cameron Nicholson, Santa Clara, CA, Carrie I. Meyer, Kalamazoo, MI and John F. Meyer, Richland, MI.
