SPRINGFIELD - Arnold R. Richardson Jr., 54, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013.

He was born Sept. 27, 1959, in Vero Beach, Fla., the son of Arnold Richardson Sr. and Delphia (Ovitt) Richardson.

He was a 1979 graduate of Springfield High School, and received a certificate from N.H. Vocational Technical College in 1981.

He worked at Springfield Hospital for more than 20 years, first in the dietary department and then floor-care maintenance. He was unable to continue working because of years of dialysis while awaiting a kidney transplant. He received the transplant in August, 2000.

He enjoyed nature and country environments. He also enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, NASCAR racing, tractor trailers, and restoring machines.

Survivors include his mother of 37 years, Kathy Callahan of Springfield; three sisters, Diane Lynch, Donna Benoit and Delphia Machia; five aunts and six uncles; many cousins, nieces and nephews .

He was predeceased by his father, Arnold Richardson Sr. in 1999; his birth mother, Delphia Ovit in 2003; and two sisters, Sue Audet in 2005 and Joyce Benard in 2007.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014. The Rev. Gerry Piper will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Springfield in the spring.

Friends can call at the chapel from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, before the service.
