Upon returning from the service, Harry moved to Comfort, TX. He married Viola Jung, the love of his life on January 11, 1949. They were married 62 years before her death. Harry began his career in the poultry industry, owning and operating the Comfort Produce Company, in addition to operating his own poultry farm. As his career advanced, he was employed by the Texas Department of Agriculture in 1969 as an egg inspector and auditor. He retired in 1987.
He was involved in numerous civic organizations in Comfort, then later in Fredericksburg when he and Viola moved there to be closer to family in 1996. They were very active in the Catholic Church. His hobbies included golfing, hunting, fishing, and of course, supporting his childrens' and grandchildren's activities. In his later years, his great-grandchildren brought him great joy, filled with open arms and smiles.
Harry is survived by one daughter, one son and their spouses: Carrie and Bryan Bierschwale, Tim and Ann Barsch. He's also survived by four grandchildren and their spouses: Todd and Cherril Bierschwale, Kimberly and Chris Swanner, Meredith and Lorne Itz, and Carena and Clay Sears. His seven great-grandchildren: Witten, Lily, Elizabeth, Finley, Anderson, Charlie and Walker also survive.
He was preceded in death by his mother (1937, two days after his 11th birthday), his father (1977) and his dear wife (2011). He was also preceded by his two sisters and their husbands: Laura and Eddie Klinksiek and Vera and Oswald Burrow.
Harry Barsch's mass of resurrection was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, TX.
