Barbara Esther Morasco, 90, of Gainesville, died June 10, 2012 at Woodlands Care Center after a long illness. She was born January 28, 1922 in Augusta, GA, the ninth child of William and Savannah Harris. She lived in Aiken SC and moved to St. Augustine FL where her father worked as a carpenter during the boom of the 1920's. After the bust, her family returned to South Carolina. As a young single mother of three boys living in Augusta GA, she met and married Joseph Morasco, the love of her life. The family then moved to Belton and Fort Hood TX and in 1961, to Gainesville FL. She worked in retail as a buyer and for the Gainesville Police Department as a meter maid. An avid gardener, she enjoyed collecting antiques, refinishing furniture, and was also a prolific and accomplished quilter. However, her central force was devotion to and love of her family and the Southern Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph, and is survived by three sons, Larry Minor of Arlington TX, Thomas Minor of Georgetown TX, and Allen Minor of Hixson TN; a daughter, Joan Morasco of Gainesville FL; a great-niece, Barbara Hudson of Jupiter FL; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Forest Meadows Funeral Home. Gainesville Sun, June 29, 2012.
