Esther Anna Millet was born Aug.
8, 1903 to Charles J. and Anna Louise
Schluntz Buddenhagen in Afton Township,
Cherokee County: She was baptized
and confirmed that baptism on
Mar. 24, 1918. Both took place at
Immanuel Lutheran Church in Afton
Township.
She married Emil H. Miller, Feb. 7,
1924, at Esther's home in Storm Lake.
To this union one daughter, Joyce and
one son, Donald were born. Their first
years together were spent farming in
Afton community north of Aurelia. In
1932 they moved to Storm Lake where
Emil was employed by Kingan Meats,
later HyGrade, until their retirement.
Esther's hobbies included cooking, gardening
and working with her flowers.
In 1982 Esther and Emil moved to
the Buena Vista Manor in Storm Lake.
Emil passed away there on Mar. 23,
1984. Esther continued to live there and
remained a faithful member of St. John
Lutheran Church since joining that congregation
in 1941.
Preceding her in death were her
parents, her husband, Emil; two brothers,
George and Leonard Buddenhagen.
