A note from an ancestor trying very hard to connect. If you have information regarding the following, pls follow up:

The Jones Slaves have Descendants

Abigail (Jones) Smith Cozzens owned a slave by the Name of Cuff Cozzens who fought in the revolutionary war in Col Adam Bailey's Company. Cuff who was born abt 1760 in Hopkinton Mass d 7 Jan 1826 Lancaster Mass. He later became free and took his fathers last name of Tindy. He reports his fathers name is James. (James is my 5th great grandfather) Cuff married at Natick Kate Jaha an Indian woman. He must have had children as his Nephew Perley Hammond (son of Rev War Vet Caesar Hammond of Lancaster Mass my 4th great grandfather) challenged his pension to include widow and heirs and was denied due to lack of documentation.

Cuff's father James Tindy was left in Col. John Jones will to his son Simpson Jones who is Abigails Brother. Her brother Anthony Jones was left a slave named Tom.

Her other brother John Jones Jr was left a slave (boy) named Bacchus. There is a record of a slave in Lancaster Mass named Bacchus Boston. Worcester County Black Revolutionary War Soldiers lists him as well.

Documentation of Bacchus Boston.

Isaac Cozzens, according to Lancaster Mass town history, owned a slave named Rose. "Rose, "Negro woman at Isaac Cozzens," d. May 5, 1812, a. 87 she would have been born circa 1725".

Documentation Col John Jones' Will.

I am seeking any information on Simpson Jones son of Col. John Jones and Elizabeth Simpson in order to trace my brick Wall at James Tindy possibly a war vet as well. Elizabeth Simpson was also the mother of Abigail and Anthony Jones.

Col. John Jones (Abigails father) married 1st Elizabeth (Simpson), married 2nd Mrs. Hannah Alden, m3rd Mrs. Mary Baldwin.

I am including a link to the Jones family tree as the family was quite large. Please note Abigail was m 1st to John Smith and 2nd Joseph Cozzens.
