Katherine G. Davenport of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at her home. Born in Washington County, Va., and had resided in Kingsport since 1950. She was a graduate of Greendale High School. Katherine had retired from T.E.C. where she was a Registered Nurse with 35 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, C.W.C. and Benona Grubb; sisters, Reba Grubb, Belle Logan, and Lula Freeman; and brothers, W.H. Grubb, Wilson Grubb, Andrew Grubb, Roy Grubb, Gilbert Grubb, and George Grubb. Katherine is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack Davenport of Kingsport; brother, Ernest Grubb and wife, Carolyn of Bristol, Tenn.; two sisters-in-law, Edith Grubb of Seymore, Tenn., and Rosa Lee Grubb of Abingdon, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, Va., with the Rev. Leroy Davis officiating.
