Our beloved father, grandfather and loving friend has returned to that place from whence he came. Seymour Barsby Scoffield, 82, passed away peacefully of causes incident to age on Thursday, August 2, 1990 at the McKay-Dee Hospital.

He was born August 30, 1907 in West Layton, and was the third of thirteen children born to George and Crilla Flint Scoffield. He married Edna Watt Stevenson on January 8, 1930 in the Logan LDS Temple. they had one son. Edna died August 2, 1975.

He was an Elder in the Kaysville LDS 6th Ward. He was a farmer most of his life, and he loved the richness of the land. He also ran a service station in Kaysville for two years. He was called to serve in the U.S. Army during WW II at the age of 37., and was fondly called the 'Gramps' of the outfit. He was decorated with several campaign ribbons and served under General Patton. he was on the Rhine River when D Day was announced.

Seymour was an avid motorcyclist. He bought his first bike in 1958 and continued riding until the age of 81. His early hobbies included archery; he made his own bows out of lemon wood. This hobby earned him many awards.

Survived by one son, Steven and wife Diane, West Kaysville; two brothers, Roland F. Scoffield, Bear River City; Don F. Scoffield, Three Forks, Mont.; four sisters, Bessie S. Calderwood, Lucille S. Robins, both Tremonton; Ada S. Dewey, Ogden; Bernice Beck, Burley, Idaho; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and six brothers, Spence, Merrill, Chet, Dick, Max, and Newell Schoffield.

Graveside services will be Monday, at 11 a.m., in the Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 East Crestwood Road. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Honor Guard. Friends may call at the home of Steven and Diane Scoffield, 1772 West 200 North, West Kaysville, Sunday, from 5-8 p.m. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery. Funeral directors, Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary.
