Billie was born Oct. 3, 1927, at LaGrande, Ore., to William and Mildred Harlow. Billie's mother died shortly after of a sudden illness. She went to live with her Aunt Iva and Uncle Charles Skinner, where she grew up and graduated from Hagerman High School in 1945. Billie and her sister, Helen, attended Saint Alphonsus School of Nursing and graduated in the spring of 1948. On Sept. 26, 1948, she married Kenneth J. Strickland of Wendell, they moved to a farm north of Gooding where they spent the next 20 years. Billie was always busy helping on the farm, raising a big garden or working at the Gooding Hospital as an R.N. Billie always enjoyed the time she spent as a lifelong member of the order of Eastern Star. She loved to travel with her friends, Leora and Bernice, and especially spoiling her grandkids. Billie was almost always able to flash that genuine smile that lit up her face and made you glad you had met her.
Billie is survived by two sons, Kenny (Sandy) Strickland of Boise, Idaho, and Jerry (Lynn) Strickland of Post Falls, Idaho; daughter, Ginger (Dan) Maxwell of Hagerman; seven grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and her sister, Helen (Jim) Kendrick of Buhl, Idaho.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the First Christian Church, 334 Fourth Ave. W., in Gooding. A viewing for family and friends of Billie will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 29 at Demaray's Gooding Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Billie's name to the Hagerman Reunion Fund or the charity of your choice.
