YORK Meta A. Bingaman, 93, passed into eternity on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at her home. She was the wife of the late Fred R. Bingaman, Sr., and the late John G. Kearns. Born in New Market, Va., she lived the majority of her life in York, where she married and raised her three children. Meta worked in the restaurant industry, as well as becoming one of the most renowned seamstresses in York County. She demonstrated a natural ability for every activity and hobby she picked up, including bowling, golf, gardening, and cooking. She was a member of The Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist and the Country Club of York. Meta is the daughter of the late Clifford and Anna June (Golladay) Estep. She is survived by her son, Jack W. Kearns of York; daughter, Karen (Kearns) Ruth of York; her grandchildren, Charles Ruth, Jr., Ryan Ruth, and Nicole (Ruth) McCleary, all of York; a half brother, Henry Marston of York; and a great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Kearns-Powell. A memorial service will be held at Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York, on Monday, January 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Steve Almquist from Living Word Community Church. The family will receive friends before the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Meta's remains will be laid to rest in Mt. Rose Cemetery in York.
