Loren Anderson, 69, of Troy died at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, where he had been a patient four weeks.
Mr. Anderson retired in 1967 after 44 years as a crane operator for Granite City Steel Co.
A previous resident of Granite City, he had resided in the Troy area for 30 years.
He was born on May 3, 1901, in Pin Oak Township, a son of the late George W. and Jerusia Smart Anderson.
On Dec. 17, 1922, he married Winifred Norbury of Troy, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Meredith Anderson of Troy, a daughter, Mrs. David (Sharon) Kirkpatrick of Collinsville, four grandchildren, brothers Clarence Anderson of Troy and the Rev. Robert J. Anderson of Pana, and a sister, Mrs. Sallie Bussong of Troy.
One brother and four sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Anderson was a member of Edgemont Bible Church, Edgemont.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Mateer Funeral Home in Troy.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Noel Hutchings, pastor of Bethel Southern Baptist Church in Troy, officiating.
Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Edwardsville.
