Madras resident Wesley Ferguson passed away peacefully on May 11, at East Cascade Skilled Nursing Facility at the age of 75.

Wesley was born on Jan. 13, 1938, in Portland, to Russell and Marie Margareth Dombrowe Ferguson. During birth, his mother passed away. Later, Wesley's father married Emma Spa, who was the only mother Wesley knew, and settled in the Metolius area.

Wesley attended Metolius Grade School and graduated from Madras Union High School in 1957. While residing in Metolius, he farmed for a number of years, maintained the landscape at Madras Dairy Queen, and mowed lawns for various individuals and businesses.

Wesley was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Madras, where he attended regularly. He loved his church family and worshipping there was a vital part of his life. A favorite pastime of Wesley's was to listen to the Bible on tape.

In later years, he passed the time by driving his car all over and visiting friends at Best Club. He was well known by everyone in the community. He knew no stranger.

Survivors include his sister, Elaine Henderson; half-sister, Alma LaVere Gibson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Fay Igo.

Memorial services were held May 18, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Madras. A private burial was held at the Old German Methodist Cemetery in Metolius with Bel-Air Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
