William Alison GROVE was born May 6, 1860, to Jacob GROVE and Mary Ann BYNUM GROVE.

He was the oldest of eight children.

On Sept. 14, 1882, he was united in marriage with Mary F. Williams.

To this union was born four children: Emil Edgar, Jan. 13, 1886; Otta and Otis, Aug. 6, 1891, and James Orval, Oct 8, 1892.

Otta, the only daughter, lived only one year.

At about the age of 20, Mr. GROVE united with the Regular Baptist church at Pleasant Ridge. About twenty-eight years later he had his membership transferred to the Missionary Baptist church at Pleasant Ridge. As a member, he was a willing worker for the church. In his later life he often regretted that poor health and other inconveniences did not permit him to attend more regularly.

In 1899 he became affiliated with the Modern Woodmen Lodge at Koleen. Since then he has been a faithful worker for the lodge.

Mr. Grove has always been a loving husband, a kind father, and a faithful friend. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, by his little daughter, by his brother, Asa Howard GROVE, and by his sisters, Laura DAUGHERTY, and Rebecca CHANEY.

He is survived by his wife, his three sons, his brothers, John Benoni GROVE and David Lawson GROVE, and by two sisters, Ollie Belle GROVE and Minnie May JACKSON, and ten grandchildren.

Besides these, he leaves a host of other relatives and friends to bemoan his departure.

His final illness set in last September. Through all his illness he was patient and hopeful. His health continued to decline until death overtook him, at midnight, June 22, 1925.
