Cloyde Frank (Ork) Arnold, 85, of Cookeville, Tenn., and formerly of the Piney Community of Wythe County, VA, went to be with his Lord on Monday, March 1, 2010. Born on December 18, 1924, Cloyde was the youngest son of Benjamin Franklin Arnold and Nannie Parks Arnold. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and five sisters, Willie, James, Lawrence, Elmer, Marvin, Anna Mae, Rosa, Lillie, Ada and Ethel; as well as grandson, David Hartig.
Cloyde was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in Europe following World War II. Cloyde and Barbara were long time residents of Royal Oak, Mich., until retiring to Cookesville, Tenn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara Marr Arnold; son, Frank Arnold and wife, Marie, of the Piney Community; daughter, Lynea Arnold Hartig and husband, Tom, of Otsego, Mich.; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Hartig, of Otsego, Mich., Michael Hartig, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Ian Arnold, of the Piney Community; and one sister, Elizabeth Turner and husband, Ted, of Max Meadows, VA. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wilfred L. Overton, pastor of Draper Valley Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church where the family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, Va., is in charge of arrangements. "HOME AT LAST".
