Hanna was the child of William Dieckman and Dorothea Aufderheide Wilhelmina Fredericka Grusenick. When her father, William, disappeared the night they were to leave for America, she came with her mother and siblings - Charles, Doretta, and Augusta. They settled in Cincinnati, Ohio. At the age of 27, she married Frederick Gallatin on 22 Feb 1900. In Dec 1902 Hanna died giving birth to her first child, both Mother and child died.
