Raymond N. Hirsch, 80, a former box-office treasurer for several Chicago theaters and a box-office manager of the Schubert Theater in Los Angeles, died of cancer Friday, Sept. 14, in Palm Springs, Calif. Mr. Hirsch graduated from Von Steuben High School and attended North Park College before joining the Army in 1942. After serving as an Army captain in North Africa and Italy in World War II, Mr. Hirsch returned to Chicago in 1945 and began working as a ticket seller at the former Harris and Selwyn Theater, now the site of the Goodman Theatre. He later worked as the theater's box-office treasurer, a position he also held at Chicago's Erlanger, Shubert and Blackstone theaters.In 1946 he married , Joyce Phyllis Shumacher. Raymond and Joyce had the following two children:

1) Holly Sheila Hirsch born: Aug 5,1947

2) Laurey Fontaine Hirsch born: 1951

Raymond Hirsch's first wife, Joyce died on Dec 10, 1961.

He met his second wife actress ,Eleanor Jean Parker while she was promoting a film in Chicago. They were married in Las Vegas on Apr 17,1966. The couple later appeared together in several theater productions. In 1976 they moved to Los Angeles, where Mr. Hirsch managed the Schubert Theatre's box office. They retired to Palm Springs in the early 1980s. Mr. Hirsch is survived by his wife; a daughter, Laurey Fontaine; four stepchildren, Richard Parker, Paul Clemens, Susan LavRon and Sharon Pinne Patterson; a sister, Anita Siegel; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
