"St. John, Eunice (wife) died 9/17/1762 aged 63"
Also from the Hale Cemetery Inscriptions and Newspaper Notices:
"St. John, Eunice, Wife of Samuel, died Sept. 17, 1762."
Upon examination, the stone clearly reads "_John" and "September the 17th, 1762." "John" is at the end of a line, where a surname would be listed rather than at the beginning where a given name would be.
Further investigation finds Eunice the daughter of David Sherman and Mercy Wheeler.
