Alice Harriet Weak, 92, passed away December 29, 2013 in Omak, WA. Alice was born August 14, 1921 in Hot Springs, SD, to James A. & Alice O. Streeter. Alice grew up on the family homestead cattle ranch near Hot Springs, SD. She attended school in nearby Buffalo Gap, graduating from Buffalo Gap HS in 1938. Usually, the daily trip to school was either by horseback or buckboard. She loved horses and from a young age through her early adult years, riding was a great source of enjoyment. After finishing high school at the age of 16, Alice went on to graduate from the National School of Business College in Rapid City, SD. In Rapid City, Alice met the love of her life, Robert A. "Bob" Weak, where they married October 18, 1941. Soon after, Bob joined the Army Air Corps, and they were stationed in Alabama and Florida during WWll. After the war they settled in Omak, WA, where they raised their five children and lived over 60 years. Alice excelled in the clerical and legal profession, and was proficient at processing and preparing legal documents as a legal secretary and paralegal. In the early days, she mastered the art of shorthand and advanced throughout her career to the utilization of more current technology. Alice worked for two Judges in Okanogan County District Court, and also served as the Okanogan County Juvenile Probation Officer. Alice culminated her career with the law firm of Hancock, Rawson & Sloan, retiring in 1985. Alice's passions were family, fishing, gardening, and camping with their travel trailer. She found enjoyment in playing the piano, singing, playing bridge, golf and was a talented seamstress. Over the years, Alice and Bob frequently participated in Omak Elks Club activities. They enjoyed dancing and travel; enjoying cruises, and several trips to Hawaii and Mexico. Their home was the gathering place for family events and Alice especially loved providing the meals for all to enjoy. She was a long standing member of the Altar Society for Christ the King Catholic Church and later for Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Alice and Bob were staunch supporters of Christ the King Catholic School, often organizing fundraisers and school picnics. She was also active in various philanthropic organizations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. "Bob" Weak, and her parents. She is survived by daughter, Joan (Roger) Ballard of Santa Rosa, CA; daughter, Marilyn (Jim) Ransom, of Bend, OR; son, David (Kathie) Weak, of Eagle, ID; daughter, Kathy (Myron) Richter, of Omak, WA; daughter, Patty (Mike) Gariano, of Omak, WA; 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
