Joseph F. Mahoney, at 71

Joseph F. Mahoney died May 21 at Quincy Medical Center at age 71.

Born in Cambridge, he grew up in Lexington and graduated from Arlington High School. A Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Mahoney lived in Hull for 40 years and owned and operated Whitecap Industries. In his spare time, he volunteered and was past president of Hull Youth Hockey, Hull Jaycees, and St. Paul's School in Hingham. He was an avid hockey fan, a Patriots fan, and a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus.

The beloved husband of Catherine [Osgood] Mahoney, Mr. Mahoney is the father of Courtney Mahoney, Christin Prestia, Casey Mahoney, Joseph Mahoney, Jr., Colleen Delaney, and Jon Mahoney, all of Hull, Caitlin Stanton of Hingham, and Colby Mahoney of North Conway, NH. He is the beloved grandfather of 20 grandchildren and the late Madyson Mahoney, and the brother of James Mahoney of Florida, and the late George Mahoney and Charles Ihley.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann's Church in Hull at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 24. Visiting hours are on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm St. [off Hancock], Quincy Center. Burial will be in Hull Village Cemetery.
