John James Burnette Jr., 86, of Warsaw, died Sunday at his home.

He was a retired medical attendant with the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fort Thomas and a World War II veteran.

His wife, Charlotte Mae Self Burnette, died in 1997

Survivors include a son, Ernie Burnette of Grant County; daughters, Doreen Miles, Janice Smith and Judy Blevins, all of Grant County, Connie Ogburn and Donna Burnette, both of Warsaw; a brother, Robert Burnette of Elsmere; sisters, Grace Vest of Verona, Ruth Evans of Grant County and Sue Pyles; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw.

Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Burial will be in Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery, Glencoe.

John James Burnett Jr., 86 of Johnson Road in Warsaw, passed away Sunday, December 12th.

John was a retired medical attendant at the V.A. Medical Center in Fort Thomas Kentucky and a veteran of World War 2. He was born on July 7, 1918, in Grant County, to the late John James Sr. and Amelia V. Bobbitt Burnette. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Charlotte Mae Self Burnette, who passed away in 1997. He was also preceded in death by four sisters: Mary Alice Howell, Shirley Sipple, Dorothy L. Burnette, Martha Burnette; and two brothers: Clarence Burnette and Winston "Wink" Burnette.

Survivors include one son: Ernie Burnette of Grant County; five daughters: Doreen Miles, Janice Smith, and Judy Blevins all of Grant County, Connie Ogburn and Donna Burnette both of Warsaw; one brother: Robert Burnette of Elsmere; three sisters: Grace Vest of Verona, Ruth Evans of Grant County, and Sue Pyles. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. on Wednesday, December 15th, at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home. Funeral Services will also be held on Wednesday at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in the Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery near Warsaw. Pallbearers will be Derrick Hughes, Michael Smith, Christopher Hughes, David Smith, Dustin Ogburn, and J.R. Blevins. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Burnette, Ralph Johnson, Philip Ogburn, Marvin Blevins and David E. Smith.

Memorials are suggested to either the Kentucky Baptist Home for Children, The Kidney Foundation, or to the Oakland Baptist Church in Warsaw.
