Mary Young, alias 'Jenny Diver', was a notorious pickpocket who became wealthy as a result of her many and resourceful crimes. She was twice captured and sentenced to transportation, but on both occasions used her wealth to bribe her way back to England. Upon her third arrest, transportation was clearly out of the question and she was hanged at Tyburn, quickly cut down and buried in an unmarked grave by her friends to foil the dissectionists.
