AGE: 83 • Millsboro

William H. Comer, Sr., age 83 of Millsboro, DE formerly of Marshallton Heights, DE passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Renaissance Health Care in Millsboro, DE.

He was born in Yorklyn, DE on June 15, 1930 son of the late Charles and Gladys R. (Sydnor) Comer. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army.

Bill had worked for DuPont in Wilmington before going into the service. Once he was discharged from the service he had worked for George & Lynch and then became the manager of the Greater Wilmington Airport in New Castle with 17 years of service. After his move to Millsboro, DE in 1980 he worked from his home with Vernon Advertising of Des Moines, Iowa.

Mr. Comer is a lifetime member of the Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Company and had served as President of that company. He was also a 50 year member and past master of the Armstrong Lodge #26 in Newport, DE. In his spare time Bill loved making ceramics, gardening, fishing and boating.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara L. (Pyle) Comer; a daughter, Beverly L. Moore and her husband Michael B. of Millsboro and William H. Comer, Jr. and his wife Ginny of Harrington, DE; 2 grandchildren, Abbigail D. Irelan and her fiancé Greg Ludwig of Baltimore, MD and Joshua L. Comer of Millsboro, DE and a sister, Thelma Gabbert of FL.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro, DE. A visitation will also be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Hwy., New Castle, DE., where masonic services will begin at 2 p.m. followed by the funeral services. Interment will be held in the adjoining cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Bill's name to the Long Neck Cheer Center, 26089 Shoppes at Long Neck Blvd., Unit 7, Millsboro, DE 19966.
