Aberdeen - Mass of Christian Burial for Mabelle Tuttle Abels, 96, Aberdeen is 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 Third Ave. S.E. Father Roger Geditz and Father James Zimmer will officiate. Burial following at Sacred Heart Cemetery with Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., in charge of arrangements. Liturgical wake service is 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at the mortuary. Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Thursday, and noon-1 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Mabelle died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at Aberdeen Living Center. Mabelle Tuttle Eisenlohr was born July 11, 1908, to Frank and Edith (Tuttle) Eisenlohr in Britton, S.D. She attended rural school through the eighth grade in Victor Township and high school at Havana, N.D. She attended summer teacher's school in 1926, at NSTC, Aberdeen, and BHSTC, Spearfish, in 1927. She taught in rural schools in Lowell and Miller Townships near Britton. She married John Abels, June 19, 1930, at her parents' farm near Havana. They resided at two farms near Britton, where they raised five children. In 1983, they retired and moved to Aberdeen. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen and a former member of First Presbyterian Church and St. John de Britto Catholic Church in Britton. Her passion was her family and church activities, which included music, Bible study, Charismatic Prayer groups, and mission work. She published some life experiences in her book: “I Heard The Lord Call My Name.” She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, two daughters, Marjorie Ludolph and Lorna Scott, two sons, Harvey and John Jr. in infancy, one brother, Robert, and one sister, Helen Hahn. Grateful for having shared her life include one daughter, Joanne (Jim) Hinch of Neihart, Mont.; two sons, Gordon Abels of Aberdeen and Michael Abels of Los Angeles, Calif.; one son-in-law, Robert Scott of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren, H.B. Abels, Dan (Amber) Hinch, Debby (David) Pollock, Cordell (Kerry Ann) Scott, and Karmel Scott; and five great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to a charity of your choice or the Aberdeen Catholic School System.
