Anton was the son of John Theodore Mossman and Adelidia Bueth. He married Helena Puttman on Dec 5, 1885 at Roselle, Iowa. They were the parents of 8 children: Anna, John, Anton, Will, Fred, Joseph, Mary, and Adelaide.

Dec 26, 1928 - Carroll Times - Anton A. Mosman, father of A.B. Mosman, prominent Carroll business man, died suddenly Monday afternoon, December 24, at 5:46 o'clock, when within a short distance from his home on North Clark street.

He was returning from town, where he had been making some purchases for Christmas when he was seized with a heart attack and died instantly. Some years ago Mr. Mosman suffered a slight stroke and his sudden illness and death is attributed to a result from the former trouble.

Mr. Mosman was born at Entschelde, Holland, September 28, 1856, and came to America with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mosman, and the remaining members of the family when he was 16 years old. They went directly to Chicago and remained there a short time before locating on a farm near Roselle.

Anton Mosman came from a family of fourteen children. He learned the painting trade, which he followed for many years. During later years, until his retirement two years ago, he was a flag man at the Chicago Great Western crossing on Carroll street. Always friendly, he was popular at his post and was alert to the safety of the men, women and children, whom he considered under his protection.

Mr. Mosman was married December 5, 1885, to Miss Helena Tuttman. Eight children were born to them. One daughter, Anna, died when an infant of 10 months. The surviving children are John, of Jersey City, N.J.; A.B. Mosman, Carroll; Will, Carroll; Fred, Carroll; Joe, Davenport; Mrs. Mary Cottier, Carroll; and Adelaide, at home. He is also survived by his wife and a brother, Henry Mosman, of Washington state, and two sisters, Mary and Lizzie Mosman, of Los Angeles, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, December 27, at the SS. Peter and Paul church.
