Arnold served as a Sergeant & Engineer on C-47A #42-93341, 9th Squadron 3rd Combat Cargo Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Windsor County, Vermont prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on July 11, 1942 in Rutland, Vermont. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in a machine shop and also as Single, without dependents.

C-47A #42-93341 took off, with a crew of 7, from Moran, India on a supply drop mission over Sookerting, India. The last contact was by radio in which they stated that were making the supply drop. They were not seen nor heard from again. They are believed to have crashed somewhere in India.

Arnold was "Killed In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
