Since then he became a highly respected and beloved actor and playwright for the Swedish people, often seen in films and TV-series, besides his theatre acting and revue performances. In 1996 he took over the old cinema Aftonstjärnan (Evening Star) in his hometown Gothenburg, which was about to be closed down. It became a platform for his work, where he staged his own revues every year. In 2005 he was appointed Honorary Doctor of Humaniora at the University of Gothenburg.
