2013 after an unexpected illness. Her family found comfort knowing that she was in the
presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Sadie was born October 19, 1930 in Monroe, NC to Mary Hilton and Fred Harrison
Broome, the family moved to the Wilmore community in Charlotte where Sadie attended
Alexander Graham middle school and Harding High school. She worked part time while at
Harding at Woolworth, tending the card and candy counter. Mrs. Foster's greatest joy in
life was her family; after her children were grown she went to work for CMS at Newell
Elementary as a baker but became a surrogate grandmother to all. She was actively
employed until her death.
Sadie was preceded in death by her husband Howard Pierson Foster and her first
husband Jerry Ivan Ross , her children; Nancy McCoy, Roger Foster and Butch Foster.
Survivors include her children, Jerry Ross and wife Donna of Charlotte and Carol Ross of
Charlotte, her son in law, Lee McCoy and daughter in laws; Janice Foster and Brenda

Marcia, and Woody, her brother, Bobby Harrison Broome and wife Connie of Charlotte,
niece , Sherry Whitley and husband Charlie, great nieces, Allison, Christina, Hali, Jessica
and Kayla.
Mrs. Foster's calling was to serve others, she gave unselfishly of herself always
demanding excellence in all areas in her life, and her motto was "if you are not going to do
something correctly, do not even do it at all"
The family would like to thank her principal and their very special friend Diana Evans for
her continued love, strength and support, along with her co workers and staff members.
Special thanks is also extended to her primary care physicians Dr. Stuart Tucker, Dr. John
Pasquini, Dr. Harold Howe, Jr. and Dr. Robert Allen also to the staff of Novant Health
Presbyterian Main Unit 5-F and Dr. Kimberly McCrea for their care and professionalism.
