Karen Joy Hawkins, 53, of Shelbyville, died Monday, the 30th day of December, 2013, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. A native of Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Dorothy Jean Hawkins and the late Earl "Punkin" Hawkins. She formerly attended Christiansburg Baptist Church and she enjoyed reading, music, old movies, and had a passion for animals, especially cats.

In addition to her mother, her survivors include her brothers, Earl Thomas Hawkins, Jr., of LaGrange, and Thomas Wayne Hawkins of Shelbyville; her sisters, Marlene Hawkins of Miami, Florida, Janice Hawkins of Shelbyville, Judy Brewer of Bagdad, Johnna K. Smitha of Waddy, Sue Brewer of Shelbyville, Wanetta Wright of Shelbyville, Patricia King of Shelbyville, and Norma Doyle of Eminence; and several nieces and nephews.
