Michael Henry Thelen, age 67, passed away Friday, December 27th, at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.He was born on March 7, 1946 in Auburn, California, son of Doris (Albinger) and the late Reynold Thelen. He attended Our Lady of Angels grade school in Armstrong, WI, and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1965.He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1966-1968. He served in Vietnam with the 93rd Engineering Battalion, ranking SP4 E4.

On April 22, 1972, he married Carol Behr at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Armstrong, WI.His love of truck driving was instilled at an early age. He used to ride along in the milk truck with his Uncle Ed. His first truck driving job was as a dump truck driver with Don Holzschuh in Plymouth. He moved onto hauling scrap metal for Sadoff Iron & Metal in Fond du Lac, and then worked for Buetyn Excavating in Sheboygan.He went to Sun Prairie Truck Driving School to learn his true passion, long haul trucking. After completing his training, he worked for Fillippo & Sons in Plymouth. He logged over 1 million miles of safe driving with his rig while employed with them.His last truck driving job was with BSV Transportation in Plymouth, until his retirement.Michael had many friends and loved talking to everyone he met.He was a member of Salem UCC in Plymouth. He was a life-long member of the Harley Owner Group (HOG). He was also a member of the Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post # 243 in Plymouth.He loved to travel either in his semi or on his Harley. Many trips were taken touring the country, and attending HOG Rallies and other events.After he retired, he enjoyed going out for breakfast and keeping in touch with his many friends. Michael was a good and gentle man. He loved his family and friends deeply. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter Liza of Plymouth; Carol Thelen of Plymouth; his mother Doris Thelen of Plymouth; his five sisters: Janice Berg of Cascade, Donna (Ron) DeZwarte of Plymouth, Marilyn (John) Krizenesky of Elkhart Lake, Karen (Jim) Adelman of Howards Grove, LuAnn (Tom) Mertens of Chilton;his brother Tom (Virginia) Thelen of Marinette; extended family: Dorothy Behr of Plymouth, David (Katie) Behr of Sheboygan Falls, Kaye (Dean) Hau of Greenbush, Dale (Diane) Behr of Plymouth, and Bruce (Sue) Behr of Plymouth.He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.Michael was preceded in death by his father Reynold; his brother Leroy "Butch"; his brother-in-law Alton "Butch" Berg; and Peter Behr Jr.

Burial will be in the Garden of Valor at Greenlawn Memorial Park in the Town of Sheboygan.
