Karen Ryan passed away Wednesday, December 4, at her home in Spencer.

Karen K. Miller was born August 27, 1940 in Council Bluffs to Linn S. and Daisy G Miller. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs where she graduated third in class. She then attended Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, MO, earning a bachelors degree, played in the band and met Jack whom she later married after his stint in the Air Force. She was an All-State vocalist in Iowa and taught at Thomas Jefferson and then in Berthoud, CO, where she put Jack through college as he was working on his Masters Degree at Colorado State University.

Karen and Jack were married at the Broadway Christian Church in Council Bluffs on July 25 and spent 47 years teaching in Spencer where they made their home at 1225 First Ave. West in Spencer.

Karen was preceded in death by her brother, John S. Miller and nephew, Travis S. Miller.
