Ormus George Dalton, 94, peacefully passed away on December 27, 2013 and was reunited with his loving wife.

Ormus was born on March 28, 1919 in Providence, Utah to Guy Earl and Phoebe Helen Naylor Dalton. He married Effie Stevens on March 24, 1940 in Oakley, Utah. Ormus and Effie were sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on May 23, 1958. He was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He lived in Ogden most of his life, moving to Clinton in his later years. He served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II.

He worked as a switchman for the O.U.R.&D. Company railroad most of his career, retiring from the Union Pacific Railroad as a brake man. He retired in 1979 with 43 years of service.

Ormus was an avid lover of the outdoors. He spent his years golfing, fishing, camping, gardening, and was a woodworking hobbyist. He gave of himself selflessly, taking wonderful care of the love of his life, Effie, his mother Helen, and his Aunt LaVern.

Surviving are his two sons, Larry George Dalton and Randy Guy (Carolyn ) Dalton; daughter-in-law Sandra Dalton; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Ormus was preceded in death by his loving wife; parents; two sisters; one brother; sons, Ormus Brent Dalton and Kenneth Earl Dalton; granddaughter, Carolee Dalton; great-granddaughter, Xanthe Dalton; and great-great-grandson Jayden Ellis.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family at the mortuary from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the services.

Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.

The family expresses special thanks to the Lotus Park staff. Ormus enjoyed the last 18 months at the facility and made many friends.
