George Chester Abbott, 89 years of age, of Middletown, Ohio, formerly of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, December 30th, 2013.

George was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on May 9th, 1924, son of the late George C. and Ida May Smith Abbott. He was a retired inspector for General Motors in Dayton, Ohio and a United States Army veteran.

George was survived by his loving wife, Opal Jean Hines Abbott, whom he married on July 5th, 1948; three daughters, Sandra Ann (and David) Valandingham, Gwendolyn Smith, and Denise (and James) Hoban; one brother, Tim Abbott; three sisters, Ruth Anderson, Jeri Barnes, and Kathi Trick; four grandchildren, Jordan Abbott, Corey Abbott, Amanda Hoban, and Andrew Hoban; six great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George C. Abbott, who departed this life on October 4th, 1979 and Ida May Abbott, who departed this life on January 20th, 1987; one son, Stephen Howard Abbott; and one son-in-law, Ronald Smith.

Visitations were held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2nd, 2014 at the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2nd, 2014 in the Chapel of the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Muse and Bro. Brian Thomas officiating.

Burial followed in the Science Hill Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
