NORTHPORT | After a long illness with Alzheimer's, Ruby Waldrop Montgomery, age 87, of Northport, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 29, 2013, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 12 noon Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at Nazareth Primitive Church with Rev. Heath Newcomb and Rev. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Montgomery and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan Williams Horton and Cindy Williams Possien; granddaughters, Heather Newcomb (Heath) and Tracy Hannah; and great-grandchildren, Luke, Levi, Londyn, Lillyanne and Lawson.
Ruby was a precious mother, grandmother and friend. She will forever be missed. She was retired after many years with Olympia Mills. A member of Five Points Baptist Church, she loved to cook for family and friends especially chicken and dumplings. She now has a clear mind and walks with her Lord who she loved so much.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are Robin Stewart and a special thanks to Hospice of West Alabama, Cassandra, Ashley and Verta.
