ADRIANCE - Carolyn L. (nee Smith), 81. Carol is now at this moment happily reunited with her husband, Frank, in the presence of our great God and Savior, Jesus. Carol is now finally feeling the tender embrace of Jesus, the father to the fatherless, whom she has so longed to know as intimately as she does now. Her joy is now complete thanks to the great, free gift of salvation through the finished work of Jesus by his death and resurrection, and her simple faith that God loves her and that he would keep her forever as his own child.

Carol was a long-time resident of Oradell, NJ,. where she lived with her beloved husband, Franklin. Carol and Frank were married for 60 years before his passing in July 2005. She is the dear mother of Sharon Benson of Boiling Spring Lakes, NC; Priscilla Newberry of Cottonwood, AZ; Cynthia Weisbecker of Plainsboro, NJ; and Timothy Adriance of Bergenfield, NJ; grandmother of Leslie Baker, Jennifer Tyer, Patrick Newberry, Jacqueline Weisbecker, Gregory Weisbecker, John Adriance, Jeanette Adriance, and Lauren Adriance; and great-grandmother to Stephanie Baker, Jackson Tyer, and Chloe Tyer.

Carol was born October 20, 1924, in Mt. Vernon, NY. As a young teen she moved to Bergenfield, where she first met Frank, who would later become the love of her life. During her high school years she moved to Teaneck, where she graduated from Teaneck High School.

On May 26, 1945, Carol and Frank were married at the First Baptist Church in Hackensack, where Carol was a part of the young people's ministry.

Shortly after World War II, Carol and Frank moved to Emerson, where they became actively involved with the Emerson Bible Church.

Carol worked hard as a wife and a mother to her then two children, Sharon and Priscilla. Carol and Frank then built their home in Oradell, and Carol actually helped with some of the hands-on work. After the new home was completed, Carol later became a mother to two more children, Cynthia and Timothy. Carol was a long-time servant of our Lord Jesus Christ at the Emerson Bible Church, where she served for years with the ladies ministry and with young children. She was a dedicated servant to anyone she could help -- be it cooking a meal, driving someone who needed a ride, hosting a celebration for each new bride and new mother, and even helping to clean someone's house. Carol truly had a servant's heart, and she would always give of herself freely.

Carol was a long-time and active member of the Gideons International; where she helped give Bibles to nurses. Carol was most of all a very devoted and loving wife, as her husband declared quoting from Proverbs, Chapter 31: "A virtuous woman, she is worth more than rubies." She was a mother who gave all she had for her children. She was a very caring grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took pride and delighted in the lives of her family. If Carol were able to come back and write this (not that she would want to, now being where she is), she would invite you to join her in eternal life, by acknowledging that Jesus of Nazareth is the only true God-man, and that Jesus, who died in our place as a substitute for all our wrongdoing, conquered death by his resurrection and offers us the free, unmerited gift of eternal life when we declare to him that he is God and Savior, and we are not.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Gideons Memorial Bible Fund (www.gideons.org) would be appreciated.

The family will receive those who wish to join in remembering Carol's time here on Earth and celebrate her eternal life, by visiting at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd, Oradell, Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM (a service of remembrance will be at 8).

Interment will be at the Pascack Reformed Church Cemetery, Park Ridge; please meet at Volk Leber Funeral Home at 10 AM Monday.
