MAGGIO, MICHAEL GARY "MIKE" A loving son, brother and friend has left this world to be with the Lord and his Dad on Monday, June 21, 2004. He loved his nieces and nephews and was affectionately called "Uncle Mike." He never met a stranger and always saw the good in people. He will always be remembered in our hearts. A native and resident of Baton Rouge, he died at the age of 53 and was born Dec. 13, 1950. He was a 1968 graduate of Catholic High School and a 1972 graduate of LSU. He worked for the past 27 years with the Louisiana Department of Revenue and Taxation. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m., led by Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Francis of Assisi, St. Louis King of France Altar Society and Kaycee Ladies Auxiliary. Visiting at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, celebrated by Monsignor Robert Berggreen. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his mother, Murble Arnold Maggio of Baton Rouge; brothers, Steve Maggio and sister-in-law Debbie Maggio of Baton Rouge, Greg Maggio and sister-in-law Liz Maggio of Katy, Texas, and Joseph Mark Maggio of Houston; uncles and aunts, Henry and Anne Cherry of Robertsdale, Ala., Walford and Marie Harrell and Calvin and Teenie Bajon, all of Baton Rouge, Genie Maggio of Leesburg, Va., Bobby and Brenda Arnold of Baton Rouge and James and Ruby Arnold of Baker; nine nieces and nephews, Stephanie King, Steve Maggio, Shelly Nash, Suzanne Tramonte, Scott Maggio, Ryan Maggio, Lindsey Maggio, Sean Maggio and Seth Maggio; five great-nieces and five great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony S. "Tony" Maggio Sr.; and paternal and maternal grandparents. Pallbearers will be his five nephews and a great-nephew.
