The funeral of Joseph Howe Lombard, a highly esteemed citizen of Annapolis Royal, who died in the hospital at Waterville, took place at St George's United Church on Monday afternoon, Reverend TE McLennan officiating. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery. He was a son of the late George and Ann Lombard, and was born at Tatamagouche, Colchester Cty., July 10, 1854. In 1872 he entered the service of
the Bank of Nova Scotia, and was located at Amherst, Pictou and other Nova Scotia towns before going to Yarmouth as manager. More than 40 years ago he was transferred to Annapolis Royal, where he served with efficiency for many years and shortly before his superannuation he was stationed at Kentville for 3 years. After his retirement he purchased the property on St. George Street known as "The Manse", and for a few years acted as assistant collector of customs. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Maria Geddes Spinney of Yarmouth; a daughter, Miss Hilda Lombard of Buffalo, NY; a son, John S Lombard in Alberta; one sister, Mrs Elizabeth Henderson of New Glasgow, and 2 brothers, Alexander of Truro, and James of Malagash.
