Gene Noel Ashley, 77, of Huntsville, died Sunday, December, 29, 2013 at the Floyd E. "Tut" Fann State Veterans Home in Huntsville, Alabama. He was born August 9, 1936, in Crowville, Louisiana, to Addie and Carlie Ashley.
Gene's daughter Angela D. Ashley preceded him in death.
Gene was a graduate of Louisiana State University and an enthusiastic LSU Tigers fan. He was a long time resident of Huntsville where he worked for the U.S. Army Patriot Missile System for much of his career. After retiring from government service, Gene enjoyed traveling and many volunteer activities. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed tennis and bowling, participating in many leagues during his lifetime. Gene will be remembered for his love of his Lord and Savior and dedication to the Gideons International organization.
The visitation is from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Valhalla Funeral Home. A chapel funeral service with Reverend Doug Browner officiating will commence at 12:00 PM. The interment will immediately follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
