Phyllis Gayle Hendrix, three and a half years old, drowned on Saturday, May 29, 1948, while on a fishing trip with her parents and neighbors on the he Marais des Cygnes River near Pleasanton, Kansas, when their boat overturned.

Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Hendrix, survived her, as well as her brother, Steven; her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Joseph Ventura of 50 South Baltimore in Kansas City, Kan., and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hickman, of 4610 Genesee in Kansas City.
