Mrs. Rita Russell Fletcher, age 63, of 324 Haney Cemetery Road, widow of Arthur Daniel Fletcher, went to be with the Lord Monday, December 30, 2013 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Fletcher was born in Alexandria, Virginia, on July 21, 1950, a daughter of the late Burnett and Gertrude Cabaniss Russell. She was a graduate of W.T. Woodson High School, George Mason University and Winthrop College, where she received her masters. Mrs. Fletcher was a faithful member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, where she served for many years as church pianist and also taught Sunday School. She was retired from the Union County School District as a Teacher.
Surviving are a sister, Sherry Large and husband Larry of Stafford, VA; two nieces, Farrah Large of Stafford, VA and Morgan Large of Fredericksburg, VA; a great-nephew, Nate Stewart, of Stafford, VA; a special friend, Debbie Carrico, of Union; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Randy Smith. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church.
