Rita Nell Foster Horton, a resident of Amite, died at 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Landmark Nursing Home in Hammond.
She was born September 9, 1928 in Kentwood and was 81 years of age.
She was the loving wife of Kermit Horton; the loving mother of Diane Mixon Zumwalt, Betty Mixon Woods, Darlene Mixon Howell, Cheryl Mixon Catt and Iley Tommy Mixon, Jr. Also survived by her sons-in-law, John Zumwalt, Larry Woods, Russel Howell and David Catt; 17 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Sitman Foster.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Daisy Jewel Hutchinson Foster; father, Jesse D. Foster; 3 brothers, Henry, Carl and Jesse Reed Foster; 2 sisters, Linda Hutchinson and Mona Foster.
Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and at First Baptist Church, Amite from 1 p.m. until religious services at 3 p.m. Saturday. Services conducted by Rev. Mike Foster. Interment Hutchinson Cemetery, Kentwood.
