Bryan Alroy Hanna, 57, of Mason City, died on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at his home.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Fullerton Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 440 N Illinois Ave., Mason City. Officiating is nephew Josh Underbakke with assistance from the church Pastor Nick Daugherty.
The family asks everyone to dress casual, wearing Iowa Hawkeyes, NASCAR, Minnesota Wild, or Minnesota Twins clothing. Inturnment will take place at a later date.
Bryan was born on Nov. 23, 1956, in Buffalo Center to Alroy and Audrey (Jarshaw) Hanna. He grew up in Woden on a farm and graduated from Woden-Crystal Lake High School where he was captain of the football team.
After graduation he moved to Mason City to attend North Iowa Area Community College where he earned his two-year degree and has resided here ever since.
Bryan worked for Larry Elwood Construction for many years after NIACC. Bryan was a talented concrete contractor. In 1986 he started his own concrete business, Hanna Concrete and Construction, which he has maintained for the past 27 years.
When he wasn't working Bryan enjoyed taking trips. He liked fishing trips to Clear Lake and Lake of the Woods. He was a Hawkeye Fan (to say the least) so he loved going to Hawkeye games and bowl games in the motor home with his family. Bryan was also a Minnesota Twins fan and attended games with his family and relatives. He was a Minnesota Wild Fan, and depending on their season a Minnesota Vikings fan.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR and liked riding motorcycles with friends and traveling to various concerts.
On Nov. 11, 2011, Bryan married the love of his life, Stephanie Corneliusen. Together they resided in Eastbrooke where Bryan enjoyed being at the pool with the neighborhood kids, aka "kids of the hood," and handing out popsicles in their garage during the warm summer days. He was known as the "popsicle man."
Bryan enjoyed attending Alex's sporting events such as wrestling, football and watching "Red Green." He also enjoyed spending time and spoiling his daughter, Lauren, who he called "Marie." When stepson Ethan needed help with his car or anything mechanical Bryan and he would spend time in the garage fixing things. Bryan loved seeing his grandson Lincoln, who was the highlight of his life.
Bryan will be remembered as a caring, compassionate and helpful person with a big heart. He would give the shirt off of his back to a stranger and went out of his way to help those in need. Bryan was a registered donor and through the Iowa Donor Network he has given the ultimate gift to help save lives.
