Son of David H."Lee" Sanders and Nellie Pearl Adams

Husband of Jean Smith, 24 October 1945, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah

Obituary - Our husband, father and grandfather, L. Dee Sanders, passed away from this life to the next on July 30, 1995. He joins his many loved ones there who have gone before.

Dee was born October 30, 1916, in Layton, Utah, the eldest son of David H. "Lee" and Nellie Pearl (Adams) Sanders. He married his sweetheart, Jean Smith, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 24, 1945, after a "short" engagement which got extended for five years while he served his country during World War II in the South Pacific.

Dee spent his early years farming with his family in Fielding, Utah. He moved to Kaysville as a teenager and lived there with his wife and daughters and among his many friends ever since. During his youth, he served as a missionary for the LDS Church in the East Central States mission where he gained more friends. He was employed by Mountain Bell telephone company and retired as the local manager after 40 years of service.

In addition to active service to his family, his God, his country and to his chosen vocation, he was always involved in his community and among his neighbors. He was a member of the Layton Chamber of Commerce, the Kaysville Rotary Club, and served as a councilman for Kaysville City.

He loved to fish and especially enjoyed trips with his friends to the Madison River in Montana. He with his wife and constant companion Jean, were members of several neighborhood and social groups-including a disreputable group known as the "Exhausted Roosters & Pooped Hens."

He is survived by his wife, Jean; three daughters and their spouses, Dee Ann and Barry Judd, Ella Jean and Deane Smith, Marilyn and Ned Ashby; and 14 grandchildren. Also surviving is a foster daughter and her spouse, Cindy and Dennis Brown.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 2, 1995, at 11 a.m. at the Fairfield LDS Stake Center, 555 North 100 East. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Kaysville Lindquist Mortuary, 400 North Main Street, and Wednesday at the stake center from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
