LAYTON--Monte J. Petersen, 74, passed away Monday, December 25, 1995 at his home.

He was born March 27, 1921 in Provo, Utah, a son of Raymond and Vera Overlade Petersen.

He married Serena Whipple, April 2, 1944 in Provo, Utah.

He was reared and educated in Provo and graduated from Provo High School. He attended BYU where he was active in sports. He lived most of his adult life in the Layton-Kaysville area.

He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the LDS Church. He worked for Clover Club Foods for 31 years in the sales and marketing division. He served as a Board Member for Davis County Drug and Alcohol Abuse program.

Monte was an avid fisherman and sportsman. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.

Surviving are his wife, Serena, Layton, Utah; one son and one daughter, David M. Petersen, Petaluma, Calif.; Cheryl P. Hurley, Bailey, Colo.; three grandchildren, Kelly Bone, Heather Saldivar and Patrick Hurley; one brother, Dwayne R. Petersen, Grand Junction, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Petersen.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 28, 1995, 1:00 p.m. at Lingquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main where friends may call on Thursday from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the D.A.V. Honor Guard.
