Douglas H. Chambers, born January 29, 1954 Columbus, Ohio, died suddenly on November 1, 2005. Beloved son of Carol and Carl "Bud" Chambers. Employed by EmergiTech, Inc. of Reynoldsburg. Walnut Ridge High School, Class of 1972. 1979 Graduate of Capital University where he obtained his teaching degree. Columbus Public School Teacher and Coach 1979-1987, teaching art and photography and coaching various sports at Walnut Ridge and East High Schools. U.S. Navy Veteran-Purple Heart Recipient. Member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and Disabled American Veterans. Graduate of Defense Institute of Security Assistance. Graduate of Army Logistics Management College. Retired October 2004 from the Department of Defense (DLA/DSCC) after 17 years of dedicated service training others in logistics/supply distribution management at various military bases across the country and at the Pentagon. Also worked at Heritage Golf Club in Hilliard following his retirement from the Department of Defense. An avid golfer and OSU sports enthusiast. He was a compassionate and loving person throughout his life. Preceded in death by his father Carl "Bud" Chambers. Survived by mother, Carol Chambers (Mel Baker) of Grove City; and five children; ten grandchildren and one unborn grandchild; daughter, Amy Conrad (Sam, Alex, Matthew) of Pickerington; son, Andy (Michelle Kusic, Zach, Hayden, Keagan, Logan) of Canal Winchester; daughter, Jessica (Dean Russell, JJ, Jayson, Emilee) of Columbus; daughter, Katie (Joe Juniper, Kaleb); son, Derrick and fiancee Tina Tyrrell, all of Hilliard. Survived by sister, Carla Chambers-Lynde (Dale) of Gahanna; sister, Robin Chambers-Dersoon (John) of Pataskala; and brother, Jerry Chambers (Karen, Shannon, Kacey) of Orlando, Florida; special uncles, Jerry Chambers (Maria) of Gahanna and Richard "Dick" Chambers (Lynda) of Columbus; many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and golfing buddies. Calling hours at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2005. Memorial service at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at Eastland Christian Church, 3371 Noe-Bixby Road, Columbus, followed by interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Pastor Darren Pratt presiding. Flowers welcome or contributions can be made to the college fund established for the surviving dependent children, Katie and Derrick Chambers, at any Bank One Branch.
