DOLAN Nancy Kellogg Dolan, 64, of New Fairfield, wife of the late James P. Dolan, passed away at Danbury Hospital on Monday, October 31, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. Nancy was born in Danbury, on May 11, 1941, one of four daughters of the late William Kellogg and Virginia Kellogg. She grew up in Bethel, and graduated from Bethel High School. Nancy earned an Associate of Science Degree as a paralegal and graduated from the New England School of Banking at Williams College. In 1992 Nancy received a Papal Honor, Cross Pro Ecclesia Pontifice, from Pope John Paul II, In 1998 Nancy was inducted as a Dame of Malta and in 1991 was inducted as a Lady of the Holy Sepulchre, she was later elevated to a Lady Commander of the Holy Sepulchre. Nancy was a founder of Candlewood Bank & Trust in 1985 and became its Managing director in 1992. She served in this capacity during the merger of Candlewood Bank & Trust with New Milford Bank and Trust, continuing as an officer of New Milford Bank and Trust and opening its Danbury Office. Nancy stayed on through two more mergers, one with Summit Bank and one with Fleet Bank. She later joined Newtown Savings Bank, opening a branch for them in Danbury and serving as a vice president and Business Development officer. Her illness forced her retirement in 2005. Nancy's volunteer experience was extensive within the greater Danbury community and the Diocese of Bridgeport. She was a member of the Rehabilitation Council for the State of Connecticut and served on the Board of Catholic Family Services and as its President, receiving the Mary Dolce Award for Community Service. She served on the Board of Directors of The Salvation Army, Faith in the Future and The Pope John Paul II Health Center where she was Chairman of the Endowment Fund. She served on the Board of Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Bridgeport, The Diocesan Board of Finance, and on the Board of the Diocesan Health Care Corporation. She was chairman of the Immaculate High School Advisory Board, and was a retired member of the Northern Fairfield County United Way Board of Directors. She was an active member of the Danbury Rotary Club, a strong supporter of Ann's Place in Danbury and was an active member of St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield, where she served as a member of its steering committee and its Finance Board. In addition to her mother, Virginia Kellogg, Nancy is survived by her children, Andrea Dolan FitzGerald and her husband Thomas, of Bronxville, N.Y., and William J. Dolan and his wife, Tracey, of Danbury; five grandchildren, Caitlin, Emily and James FitzGerald and Kelly and Leah Dolan; three sisters, Jean McGovern and her husband, Jim, of New Hampshire, Barbara Kennedy and her husband, Paul, of Bethel, and Dawn Krizan and her husband, Kevin, of Bethel; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, William B. Kellogg, Nancy was predeceased by her husband, James P. Dolan in 1984. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, November 4, 2005 at 10 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Bethel. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy's memory may be made to Ann's Place Home Of I Can Cancer Support Services, 103 Newtown Road, Danbury, CT 06810 or to St. Edward the Confessor Church, 21 Brush Hill Road, New Fairfield, CT.
