CADIZ, Ky. — Services for Ernest "Ike" Johnston, 87, Cadiz, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Goodwin Funeral Home with the Revs. John Hagan and Norman Cotton officiating.

Burial will be at Jones Cemetery in Trigg County.

Visitation will be Friday beginning at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

He died at 4:08 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Trigg County Hospital of natural causes.

A native of Cadiz, he was born Oct. 6, 1922, the son of the late Ernest Smith Johnston Sr. and Georgia Humphries "Pug" Johnston.

He had retired in 1987 from the Soil Conservation Service.

A member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church, he was a deacon, a Sunday school teacher and former church treasurer.

He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

His wife, Willie Mae Goode Johnston, and a son, Jerry Johnston, preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Suellen) Hendricks, Cadiz, and a grandson.

Memorials may be made to the Jones Cemetery Fund, 76 Brame Road, Cadiz, KY 42211.
