Staff Sgt Travis Nixon of Fayetteville, was killed in action serving his country in Afghanistan. Being a second generation military personnel, he has had the opportunity to live in many different places during his childhood, which include the state of Washington and also in Germany. Travis was an avid sportsman while growing up which included the swim team, track, football, baseball, and basketball. He also enjoyed playing the saxophone in concert band and a jazz band. He was a member of the Future Farmers Of America for four years. Travis gave the world to his loved ones, family, and friends. Not only did he leave a lasting impression upon all who would come to know him, but for all of those he greeted with open arms and called friend. Travis will be remembered for being one that worked hard, played hard and lived life to the fullest. He died doing what he had wanted to do since he was three years old, being a soldier in the Army. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Taylor Nixon; his parents, Nicky and Mary Margaret Nixon, brothers, Kurt and his wife, Caroline, James Nixon, sister, Kristy Fridge and husband, Brandon, nephew, Caleb Nixon; grandparents, Richard and Thelma Louise Nixon, aunts and uncles, Kim and Bob Wade, Teri and Terry Nixon, Ed Haymaker, god parents, Joan and Walter Siedlecki. He was 24.
