John E. Hagan

Dover—John E. Hagan, 84, of Dover, died Wednesday at the State Home at Smyrna after a long illness.

A retired sea captain, Mr. Hagan had spent 45 years fishing and boating in the Indian River Inlet area. He also took fishing parties out on his boat, the Rainbow.

Born in Indiana, he had lived in Delaware many years.

Mr. Hagan’s wife Ruth died several years ago.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Davis (step-daughter) and Mrs. Evearita Syrek, both of Dover; a sister, Mrs. Melvia(sic) Abshier, of Hammond, Ind.; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be tomorrow afternoon at 1 at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, Reed and Bradford Sts., where friends may call after noon. Interment will be at Millsboro Cemetery.
